kill block

A kill block is a block in which both hands are thrust diagonally into the opponent's court for a blocked shut. This block knocks the opponent's spike directly down.

catching (in swimming)

Catching is a general term for receiving. In volleyball, a catch is not the taking of the ball, but the receiving of the ball.

playing catch

Catching a ball is an infraction in which a player grabs the ball and stops it. The old name for this is Held Ball Holding.

change of players

Competitor substitution is a change of players during a match. sans-serif; font-size: 14px; background-color: #ffffff;">Athlete substitution is a change of players during a match. Another name for this is member change or substitution, and up to eight substitutions are allowed per team per set.

Recorders are referees who are responsible for checking scores and server numbers during the game.
